Highly Efficient Waveform Design and Hybrid Duplex for Joint Communication and Sensing

Joint communication and sensing (JCAS) is a very promising 6G technology, which attracts more research attention. Compared with communication, radar has many unique features in terms of waveform design criteria, selfinterference cancellation (SIC), aperture-dependent resolution, virtual aperture. This paper proposes novel named max-aperture slicing (MaRS) to gain large time-frequency aperture, generated by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) occupies only tiny fraction OFDM resources. The proposed MaRS keeps the advantages constant modulus, zero auto-correlation sequence, simple SIC. As consumes much less resources, conventional processing methods fail, angle-Doppler map based are obtain rangevelocity-angle information from echos strong clutters. To avoid complex full-duplex this hybrid-duplex JCAS scheme composed half-duplex radar. antenna array reused, small sensingdedicated added. Using these two arrays, space-domain aperture virtually formed greatly improve angle resolution. numerical results show that hybrid duplex can achieve high resolution 0.4% reduces overheads than one tenth.
